“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they are never weakness.”- Brene’ Brown

On Sunday, we took a trip down a painful and vulnerable past of unhealthy habits and disordered eating. A story I carried alongside me, buried in shame, for almost 2 decades. A few weeks ago, I stood at a podium in the very walls I learned those unhealthy habits & spoke to youth about the ways I’ve been able to conquer it. Standing inside my old high school walls was empowering but also brought up a lot of memories that I had locked away. Looking back, I wish I could have told the younger version of me, that I was so much more than any number on a scale. That was worth was never measured by my weight. We can’t change our past but we can use it as a tool to show up better for ourselves as we continue this journey.

If you or anyone you know struggles with body image and distorted eating patterns, I hope you give this a listen. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to, please feel free to message me directly. Trista Lynn Long
